There is
a great new artist by the name of Phil Ayoub (pronounced A-Yoob with the accent
on the A). His
debut cd is entitled "Schoolbus Window Paper Heart". He is from the
Boston area. It is one of the best debut cds I've heard in a long time
(and radio friendly). Please consider playing a track or two.
The cd is produced by Tim Bradshaw (who also plays on the cd). He is
David Gray's guitar/keyboard
player (and currently playing keyboards on
John Mayer's tour). The drummer is Ed Toth
formerly with
Vertical Horizon.
All sorts of exciting things are happening to
Phil's career. He
is starting to gain a strong fan base. A post on the Bruce Springsteen music site
(Backstreets) has yielded over 38,000 hits so far. See it here. I know him from that music site. This guy deserves to be heard. I think he is going
places. Thanks for the listen.
If you link to him or promote him, please use his myspace site at www.myspace.com/philayoub
For
info/bio on him either check out his site www.philayoub.com

P.S. If you do play Phil please email him HERE so you can be acknowledged.

"Singer-songwriter Phil Ayoub
(pronounced A-yoob), is a deep-thinking, deep-feeling, quintessential all
American boy from Boston. Ayoub’s extraordinary ability to paint a deeply
stirring, sweetly-poignant picture with emotive, insightful lyrics and pure
natural music combine to create a smooth polish to Ayoub’s personal,
frequently humorous thoughts and experiences.
Ayoub’s amazing debut album Schoolbus Window Paper Heart is filled with
poignant, honest, romantic and often playful lyrics and simple melodies created
with acoustic guitar and jangely synth and of course Ayoub’s earthy, gentle,
sensual vocals will keep you hooked from the first track to the ironically funny
final secret track. Schoolbus
Window Paper Heart is an album I would strongly recommend."

I can't say enough about (the
song) "Carnival Days". This music has heart and I kind of see the
Springsteen connection but more than anything else what I hear is a very unique
voice and a gift for expressing emotions, sentiments, atmospheres.....all the
things that go into giving music a sense of place and time. The melodies, the
harmonies and some superb production values going into that music.

1.) Unbelievable music. I’ve
checked out a ton of his songs on the podsafe music network and they go all over
the place. They are rootsy, they are Americana, they are poppy, they are a lot
of fun..and then I started doing a little bit more research about Phil and it
turns out that his recent album was produced by Tim Bradshaw. Who’s Tim
Bradshaw? Well, Tim Bradshaw is the keyboard player for David Gray. David Gray
made the album “White Ladder” that was out a couple years ago. I (think) it
won a Grammy..but even if it didn’t it should have because it is an
unbelievable album. Every track on that album is great and if Tim Bradshaw had a
part of that…in creating that..what he can do for Phil Ayoub is unbelievable
too. Phil has some amazing stuff out there….you’re gonna love this.
2.) I think a show or two ago I played Phil Ayoub and I've since come to listen
to the whole album and I absolutely, absolutely love Phil Ayoub. He wrote me a
great little note. He is one of the hardest working guys in rock music right
now, and what I really like about his music is that it fits in that whole Dylan/Springsteen/kind
of Bono (when Bono had some real passion to him) and I really dig it. (In
reference to "White Feather"). It is really, really good stuff...so
check it out.

A very very excellent album
called "Schoolbus Window Paper Heart". If you check out one song or artist on my
show, check out Phil Ayoub from Boston. He's just an amazing singer-songwriter
with a really really good album.//If you get one independent CD this year get
Phil Ayoub's. It's one of my favorite CD's in the world.

Phil's tune is really good, and perfect for our show.
I get a lot of promos, some from professional promoters that don't get me interested like yours.
We will be playing more of Phil in the future. Thanks again for making us aware of him.

I checked it out and I
actually liked the song AND Phil's delivery. As a syndicated show we pretty
much stick to proven hits but I hope I'm encouraging. I liked it - thanks
for turning me on to him!!!

(note:Danny is a syndicated radio host listened to in many markets)
(In reference to "River To
Ocean"). That was a great song. That was almost like a Matthew Sweet kind
of feel. Great. Love that power pop stuff. It's fantastic. File that Philip
Ayoub song "River To Ocean" under summer songs, cause man summer's
coming and believe me, nothing's cooler as playing like a summer mix cd with
music like that.
